I'm all about shooting for myself, and almost 100% of the time, that involves shooting a ton of other people: friends, family, etc. For me, documenting people in what they do and what they are passionate about is one of my favorite things to do, and people's personalities are vividly revealed when they are immersed in one of their favorite activities.
I got asked by Phil, one of the creators and masterminds behind the Madbury Club, to come out and shoot a little behind-the-scenes action for their latest spread while I was in NY a couple weeks ago. We hung out for the afternoon while they were pulling their typical shenanigans shooting a small piece on Gourmet shoes. What they're doing is a unique process: essentially they are their own creative agency, directing and producing lookbooks and digital content for less mainstream companies...it's a very cool thing to watch. All of the guys have such a genuine, personable and unique character, it was blast getting to know them and just shooting around for a couple hours in Brooklyn. I'm looking forward to collaborating with these great guys more in the future.
Make sure to check the blog out for some of the latest style and music trends from the East Coast, the "Club" generates all their own original content and is sure to be a good read everyday.
