All my life I have grown up on and around the lake, so I was really excited to be invited by my friend Alex Horner to go out for an afternoon to shoot some awesome wakeboarders. The other day we headed out to a lake in the north metro to hangout and shoot in the hot summer air. The day was perfect with the session taking place on a nice secluded stretch of beach. Just a few of us were hanging out taking turns sessioning a couple rails; super chill and a ton of fun.

Unfortunately I had a camera body take a dip in the lake only an hour after arriving, but I was still able to salvage some of the images I shot from the early afternoon. I stayed some time after shooting on my backup body, but because of my anxiousness, I decided to leave early to go take care of my water-soaked camera body and phone. As you'll be able to tell from Horner's video, I missed an epic sunset with some wonderful light at the end of the day!

Regardless of the setback, I'm looking forward to the next couple sessions in May and June. I am so pumped to work with such awesome riders and people on this mini story! Alex and I will probably be working together a lot more in the future, so I'll make sure to update with anything we do.

He put together an awesome edit from the day (I even have a little cameo at 1:00!), check it out:

What body took the dunk? You may be okay since it was freshwater as long as you popped your battery right away and left it powered off. I dropped an old 20d into lake superior and it worked fine for another 80k clicks after I dried it off for a long time. The lens however had water spots on the inside elements.

hey ben, thanks for the info! it was my 5dmk2 body, and even though it was barely submerged, it didn't have a lens on and still got water inside the mirror and sensor opening. Everything else was relatively dry, it wasn't powered on, and I removed all the batteries asap...but I sent it in to canon pro services yesterday to get it taken care of right away, I've got work I need it for this week!

thanks for the comment and tips man!

One of my good friends Spencer Combs, who's wedding and day after you might remember from last November (here), is also an awesome wedding photographer. Since his wedding six months ago, it's been a crazy and wonderful journey for him, shooting nonstop and traveling, all while working to be the best husband he can be.

Let's not forget though, that he also just launched his new blog (http://spencer-combs.com/blog/) and I'm super proud of him. We both got together a couple weeks ago and did a fun little shoot, he even managed to make me look decent! Go check out the new site and show him some love, maybe even subscribe to it in your RSS or bookmark it to come back easily!

They are gorgeous together. I'm afraid of what would happen should their genetics combine to birth a child...probably world ending beauty.
